Default New Local Digital Choice Plans From Verizon

I was just surfing Verizon's website and I noticed they have posted new Local Digital Choice Plans for my area and they seem like a pretty good deal. They start at $39.99 a month and include a good amount of anytime minutes, unlimited night and weekend minutes, plus long distance.

Promotional Local DigitalChoice 500
500 Anytime Minutes

$39.99 a month

According to a regular poster on the howard forums, Sprint also has this type of local plan with 500 anytime minutes available but it hasn't been posted on the web site yet. It's available in many states but not all.

yes i saw that too according to them NYC is one of the markets getting these plans which are ( i assume)designed to be competitive with the other carrier's local plans minute wise and i am sure to compete with the Cingular launch in NYC at least ...here is what the poster said two of the new sprint local plans are:

$35 500 anytime 3000 N/W
$50 800 anytime 4200 N/W 9pm n/w. in some markets

in the NYC market they are as follows:
34.99 350/3150
49.99 700/4300
59.99 900/5100

and that they will first be coming out in the NYC/NJ market and Colorado and a couple others before hitting some other markets as well.

Beware of the pop ups. I have to use Panicware before I go there. The pop ups drive me nuts.

How big will the local calling areas for these Sprint plans be? Will they include several states or just the home state?

But Sprint charges you when you roam off their network, even in your home area. With Verizon's local plans, you aren't charged no matter whose network you're using, as long as you are in your home area.

I think they will include up to three states. Depends on what market the offer is for. NYC gives you three states I believe.

NOT TRUE! Before I switched to the America's Choice Plan, I used to be on the NYC Local Calling Plan. Several times my phone would coem up roaming. Verizon told me not to worry about it...so I didn't. When I received my bill, I was charged roaming. I had to call up to have the charges removed. It's a pain to study my bill every month and always check for roaming. Always watch the roaming indicator and update your PRL frequently. Here in NYC, Verizon isn't offering much more "local anytime minutes" than the AC Plan. I wish they would offer promotions for the Single Rate National Plan like they once offered last year.

Well, in California they don't. I had the local digtial choice, and often roamed over to US cellular on the A band to make and receive calls, and never once got charged.
