The customer service woman actually suggested that we should maybe come back in a few weeks when they get a new 3G demo phone in. However my granny has decided not to do that, Sprint just doesn't have enough towers around here yet. A different phone might make a small improvemeant but if theres not enough towers its not going to help much. There too new around here, maybe next year

I agree Dan. I don't think another phone will help all that much. A new tower will help more.

Well, Larry she finally got sick of her ALLHELL service and canceled there service today. ALLTEL has just been horrible lately, her phone roam's on Verizon's digital network frequently at the house either that or its such a weak analog signal the phone doesn't even work. The phone is also not holding a charge, basically ALLTEL wanted her to get a new phone and pay an activation fee which is ridicouls she has been a customer of them for 3-4 years now.

They was not helpful at all in the main building and you can't even cancel the service at an ALLLTEL store!
You have to call a 1-888 number and do it that way, finally after about 5 times trying to get through to them with people who hung up or didnt know what they was doing she managed to cancel her account and ALLTEL offered nothing for her to stay with them. Today she got the online bill and its $11 higher now because apparently she was getting a $10 credit by mistake for the past year and now they are charging her for it. I think my grandmother is going to share my phone for now and then later on she might go with Verizon Wireless or another wireless company.

IT seems like they do not care about retaining their current customers (alltel)

No, Jack and thats what surprised me the most. She had spend $30 average a month for the past little while but before that her bill was $60-$80 monthly with them and we're talking about with a 3-4 year service here too. She has upgraded her phone with them many times and our long distance on the home phone is even with ALLTEL. They didn't offer her a thing to stay with ALLTEL.
