I just bought 2 Motorola V710 and had an Audiovox 8900 that I want to give to my daughter. What do I need to do to make that phone usable for Metro PCS? I know that Metro PCS uses the same phone. They (the local retail) are trying to make me buy a phone from them.

Where did you buy the phone from? Did u pay full price or buy it with a contract? Most of the time you won't be able to use another carriers phone? Try going to a corprate store and see what they say since retail stores have their own policies. Hope this helps.

I bought the 8900 from Verizon. Metro PCS uses the same phone, but they told me I have to buy a phone from them. This doesn't make any sense to me. I am trying to find out if this is a software issue and how to go around it.

Go to a Metro PCS store and see if they will flash the phone with their software. If not, you will probably have to buy a Metro PCS phone.
