According to the article in businesswire.com Nextel subscribers will have nationwide access to other subscribers. So I'll be able to PTT Rich. http://www.businesswire.com/cgi-bin/...XTL&ticker=MOT << 'Nextel is scheduled to deliver the new Direct Connect roaming capability in the fourth quarter of 2002' >> |

I am curious. I know Sprint is coming out with its own PTT (possibly duplex) service either late this year or early next year. Any nextel users know if this is going to be intercarrier PTT via Nextel when it upgrades its system? like between other carriers like SPrint launching PTT as well? |

I haven't heard anything like that. I do know that since Sprints PTT system is different, initially theres no way to talk to another carrier's subscriber. Also how would the billing go? Nextel only bills the initiator of the conversation.

The way billing currently DC goes: The initiator of the conversation gets billed for the call. If the person receiving the call doesnt answer within 4 seconds the channel will cut off. But if you have unlimited DC you dont have to worry about this.

From what I have been told about direct connect is that the person talking (holding the button) is the one that gets charged for the call so yes bot parties will get charged Jack
