Default I am new at this wireless crap

I am thinking about purchasing a cell phone. For the past week I have been on the internet looking for info about phones and calling plans. The biggest problem I am having is with the calling plans. My problem is this, I would like a plan about the same as price as my home phone( about 35 to 45 dollars a month), and I want more daytime minutes than night and weekend. I do not use a phone late at night because of my job, I get up early in the morning so I am in bed early,so after 9:00pm I am in the bed and do not want my phone to ring or use my phone. I do not use long distance that much and when I do it is before 9:00pm,during the week and not on weekends. I am thinking about getting a cell phone for my home use and would like to get a plan that will suit my needs. Right now I have a cell phone that was given to me and I am on a prepaid plan because I only use it one time a day for about 2minutes at the most ,so prepaid is right for me at this time,But if I do get another phone to replace my home phone I will need a plan that suits my needs, and the bottom line is more daytime minutes than night and weekends. I know I am not smart in this area but I am willing to learn. Can someone help me?
thanks

I've just been looking over the net for your location in North Carolina and it looks like you have ALLTEL, Cingular Wireless, Nextel, and Sprint PCS there. Out of that list the only one that I think might fit your needs is ALLTEL any other carrier gives you mostly night time minutes and a little bit of daytime minutes but ALLTEL does have a local unlimited wireless plan in some areas that is $69.95 a month, I know thats a little bit beyond your budget and it does give you a smaller calling area but for some people its not a bad option you might want to see if they have that plan avaible in your area. Another plan you might want to consider with them if you want to stay pre-paid is there new Boomerang Wireless prepaid option which gives you 3,000 night and weekend minutes, 300 anytime minutes, and free long distance for $34.95 a month and since its pre-paid you don't pay any roaming charges and there is no credit check. This new pre-paid plan has no roaming but it's good throughout ALLTEL's entire network according to there coverage map.

the bottom line is that the carriers give away lots of nights and weekends minutes because those are offpeak minutes, when less people are using it; therefore they can afford to give away lots of minutes that few people are going to use. Nextel is very expensive and probably wont fit your needs. AT&T might be best, because they (in my area at least) offer 600 minutes and 3000 nights and weekends (which start at 8 pm here) if you sign a 2 year agreement. I have Cingular, get 400 anytime and unlimited nights & weekends (of which I use between 400-800 per month, but I'm in school most of the day, so it works well for me) for the same $40/month. Voicestream is in my area, they offer 3000 anytime regional minutes (that seems pretty much unlimited for me) for $50/month, but another poster said that they aren't in your area. Good luck
