I primarily drive LA, MS, AL, NW FL, SE TX & W TN. My home base is Slidell LA, junction I-10, I-12, I-59. Which are best service providers should I consider, from your experience?

I have tried several diffrent carriers and am currently using Nextel. I have been very pleased with there service and the local rep. has been very helpful. Go to their website and click on the coverage and see if they cover the areas you travel. If so, talk to a local sales rep and see about trying a loaner phone to see if it works around some of these areas. What ever service you choose be sure you try the product before you sign on the dotted line. Good Luck! Steve.

I tried Nextel, but it would not work once you leave New Orleans or Baton Rouge.. same with Suncom.. I now have radiophone/alltel and I am pretty happy.. It seems to be the only thing to work both in the cities and out in the country too... the only area I have had any problems is on the causeway.. Jimmie |

If you chose suncom you get 11 states coverage with the States plan and the phones do work outside New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Probably an individual problem. S. Cole |

Go for Cingular, they cover all of eastern Louisiana, and have digital service from San Antonio, TX to Pensacola, FL on I-10, and when your in W TN Memphis area goes from AR line to about 1/3 of the state. Of course you can roam on other digital carriers in those areas in the middle as well.
