Hi all. I recently went to the Shared Advantage Plan from another plan, and now my phone says "SHARED" instead of "AT&T". I wish there was a way to change it back to "AT&T". It kinds of cheapens the look of it to say "SHARED", and it also causes other people to ask what it means. It's a great plan, because 3 others in our family can share the minutes for only $10 each. But the sales rep didn't tell me that the name change would happen when I signed up. Does anyone know how to change it back to "AT&T"? It seems to me that, for the plan to work, what the phone says on the display, would be irrelevent. Thanks, Wayne |

You probably can get it change but I can't be sure if AT&T will do it...check with their customer care rep. The "Shared" indicator on your phone actually lets you know when you are in your "Shared" Home region and thus utilizing your Unlimited calls to your shared plan users. Once you are outside of your "Shared" Home region, the phone will display "AT&T." So I really don't see why you would want to go out of the way to do what you want done.

I don't think the "Shared" that your phone displays has anything to do with the plan you are on. I'm on an AT&T nation wide "no roaming" plan and sometimes depending on what part of my office building I'm standing in the phone displays either AT%T, SHARED, or ROAMING. My guess is that this is just an indicator of what system type your phone is connecting to (similar to the "D" for digital or "A" for analog on some StarTac phone displays. This is only important if you pay EXTRA $$ when you are connecting on a different phone company's cell tower (for example Sprint charges extra for analog connections which they don't own). Your sales rep (if they are like mine) probably do not now this happens. |
