Does anyone have any tips on the best service and coverage in the Columbia, MD area ( midway between DC and Baltimore )? I currently use Cingular but the signal is spotty at my house in Clarksville ( 4miles from Columbia ) and I have also grown tired of their telephone solictations even though I have asked to be removed from their list.

Hi
Being so close to I-95 and 29, the closest towers to you are likely facing north/south/east. You are certainly within a good coverage area. I would suggest trying a Clear Connect antenna attachment for your phone, it may improve somewhat those spotty areas along 29.

Do any of the booster antennas that either clip to the phones' antenna or that look like a metal coil and are placed on the back of the phone actually work?

Those stick on antennas, are nothing more than fancy looking stickers. Theyre useless, the best antenna ive seen is the clear connect that sells at your local provider. They work well for me.

For info on antennas, go to my website, This Page, and scroll down to antennas. These things are considerably more but supposedly "real" alternatives.
