I drove yesterday from Laurel MS to Enterprise AL on US 84. This is a LONG 200 miles drive with little or no 4 lane stretches. Coverage was good from Laurel until the 4 lane ends about 10 miles from the AL line. It was weak until about 4 miles from the AL line where it died completely. Coverage came back about 2 miles into AL but was only like 1 bar and it was back and forth between Pine Belt (2094) and Alltel (444) So the signal was pretty much unuseable until I reached Clarke Co. where Alltel (444) takes over. From there all the way to Opp coverage was digital and strong. Even through the most rural parts of the state Alltel had towers covering it! I did drive AL 134 from Opp to Enterprise where there is one dead area around Ino, but ive heard Alltel will have a site up here by the end of the summer. This stretch of highway might not apply to anyone, but IMO there should be a forum devoted to coverage notes!
