Default Switching from ATT to Verizon in DFW

I'm just about to switch from ATT to Verizon. I live just south of Fort Worth in Cleburne, but I travel mots of Texas. ATT is okay, but I'm paying way too much, and I have been impressed with some of Verizon's plans and phones. PLus, I like CDMA, seems clearer to me than anything, does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Make sure you get a good signal at home. Verizon uses the more 'fragile' PCS frequencies in Texas for their own network, but when you leave their home area, you will be roaming on the best 800 MHz cellular networks.

In chunks of central TX, that means analog roaming, but you would have already run into that with AT&T. Additionally, Verizon allows roaming on AT&T in parts of the state. Although it's on analog, it is included in the TX Local plans. Verizon right in D & FW is OK, but along I-35, in Houston, and where they are roaming, they actually perform better!
