EV-DO in DC Awesome! I had a chance to test drive a laptop with a 1xEv-Do connection on VZW this week and it was awesome. Its all it lived up to be. I clocked it around 600Kbps, higher than I expected. Granted, not many people have it so not much of the bandwith is taken up, but its still sweet. It seems to work extremely well, even where signal is somewhat weak. Just thought id post about this. I think Verizon
will finally break into the business market for good with this! New Job = New Phone

Right now it really only works inside the beltway....New Job = New Phone

EV-DO in DC Awesome! thats going to be awesome when it comes along. when handsets with ev-do come out, ill be really tempted to move back to Verizon
, even if it means i have to pay half of my own bill as opposed to having all of it paid for on a corp acct New Job = New Phone

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Currently their is an airprime card that is the only one available for the BroadbandAccess (EV-DO) service, it's not available in all markets yet, but the card is also compatible with Verizon
's 1xrtt service so you can use it (300-600k in DC and San Diago) or 40-60 k (peak 144k) anywhere on Verizon
's network.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Ehh, good for business, but it won't be that great for consumers. Verizon
overprices their data...oh wait...we still don't have 1X web! I would rather have better coverage, but I do see potential.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Verizon
data is not overpriced given the speed. $80 for Ev-Do isnt too much at all.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Agreed, and if it means not putting up a tower in rural Deleware in exchange for nationwide EV-DO... HATE IT FOR YA.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Yeah, $80 might seem pricey for an internet connection. BUT, think about it, you will be getting DSL speeds, and NOT be tied down to your home. Yeah, Wi-Fi service is cheaper, and sometimes a little faster, but again with that, you have to be within that 300 foot range. Hotspots seem to be popping up everywhere, however, once EVDO launches network wide, you won't be limited to just hotspots.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! I'm making a prediction that Hotspots will go the way of internet cafe's and kiosk once EV-DO is nationwide....

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Is this true? I thought that Verizon[i]...we still don't have 1X web...
's mobile web was 40-60k right now? As long as you have a CDMA 2000 capable phone that is...

's schedule regarding switching mobile web to 1x? Also, will pricing stay the same or do they plan to go w/per mb pricing?

EV-DO in DC Awesome! Actually, it's not quite that rural. VerizonOriginally posted by: jayc

needs to shape up their network here. I certainly will be leaving in May. I thought the appeal of Verizon
was the coverage? Now that the coverage is getting worse (in my state), I can certainly care less about data. I thought most Verizon
users wanted a phone that works, well with more users and no new towers, that is becoming a bit hard to do.

EV-DO in DC Awesome! what carrier has a better national footprint airb? give me a break, maybe Verizon
does need to shore up their coverage in some areas, but there really arent that many, and moving to higher speed data doesnt seem to be taking the place of many capital improvements they are making
