I want to know how useful is a dualband handset on verizons network? The Samsung sph-i700 is a pda, camera, phone is very appealing at the same time I'm not sure how good it will serve being that it is strictly digital. Does anybody have personal experience with verizon using a dualband handset that is strictly digital? I have no experience with verizons coverage other than the fact that my sister (verizon user) gets a good signal where I have nothiiiing. As far as I am concerned, in my mind there is no difference between sprints all digital pcs network and verizons digital network. who should I get service with? |

First, there is a definite difference between VZW and SPCS networks. But it all comes down to where you travel (live, work, school). As for dual and tri-mode, does your sister's phone change over to analog much? If never or barely, there's nothing wrong with testing a VZW phone for the 15 day trial. Take it with you everything testing making sure you call place calls and receive them. Cell phone service is very much a "personal" decision. Test out the service!

If you are planning to travel in South Georgia much, go with the Tri-mode. Alltel is being extremely slow in converting to digital. I have the T720 Motorola, and I have an analog signal on the Extended Network (Alltel for southern Georgia) most of the time. If you are only going to be in the northern part of Georgia, then you should be fine. Just try the phone out of the first 15 days and trade it if it doesn't work.

if u really want the i700 you should get that and a cheap verizon used phone or a phone of ebay that is tri-mode....this way for the majority of the time u can use the i700 but when u know your going to be going into rural areas yyou can switch to the trimode phone (online using esn swap)
