Default Sprint build-out update for Atlanta

I was speaking on the phone with a Sprint RF engineer for the Atlanta area. He told me they will have something like 40 additional sites coming online in the Atlanta area by end of the year. Should have another 70 or so on top of that by next October.

He told me most of these are fill-in sites designed to improve building penetration, etc.

Default Sprint build-out update for Atlanta

Nice to hear. They're doing the same thing here in LA. The new goal is to beef up residential and in-building coverage.

Default Sprint build-out update for Atlanta

Yeah, I can see this already. My roommate at Emory has Sprint, and he gets a full signal with his SCP-8100 in the basement of our dorm with the antenna retracted as well. Even in the middle of our big university center made entirely of concrete, he still gets great reception. I think that especially for the PCS band, this is great. There must be a cell site pretty close, but it's still nice to see the ATL coverage improving. Now Cingular GSM is another story.....
