Cingular Earns Most Reliable Network Rating in Tupelo and Meridian
Third-Party Test Shows Network Investments Working

TUPELO, Ms–December 7, 2005- Cingular Wireless received the top ranking among national wireless carriers in Tupelo and Meridian, Mississippi based on drive test results from a leading wireless research company that provides information, insight and performance measurements for the wireless industry.

The test measured which carrier had the fewest number of dropped, blocked and incomplete calls. Cingular received the Most Reliable network rating in both cities.

“We are proud to be recognized by an independent research company as having the most reliable network which shows our financial investments in Tupelo and Meridian are paying off by giving our customers the best possible wireless experience,” said Doyle Warrington, Director of Sales-Mississippi. “We’ll continue to enhance the quality and coverage of our service in Tupelo, Meridian and around the country.”

Cingular is investing approximately $85 million in Mississippi this year, adding 35 cell sites to enhance its wireless service throughout the state. Year-to-date, the company has already activated 34 new cell sites in the state including a site activated in Tupelo which improved coverage in the Western part of the city surrounding the intersection of W. Main St. & Thomas St. The company will spend more than $6.2 billion nationally in network upgrades and expansion, giving customer’s access to more than 40,000 cell sites nationally the most of any US carrier. The company provides coverage to more than 270 million people living and working in every one of the top 100 markets in the United States. Customers can also use most phones when traveling abroad in more than 170 countries.

I agree that among the national providers Cingular is #1, but from all providers in MS, Cellular South is the king down there

I live in MS, and yes, Cellular South is great down here. However, they're best for those who like a local plan. They're improving and getting more national features; however, they're still more expensive than Cingular, at least from the standpoint of my plan and needs. Also, from my travels and those of people I know here on CS, Cingular's coverage is as good as or better than CS. I'm keeping my eye on CS though, as I'd like to support a home-state company.
