T-Mobile in Columbia, SC Well, I did a network search today, and found T-Mobile
GSM in Columbia, SC. I'm located downtown and my network search has it listed. This has never happened before, so it's pretty surprising.
Is T-Mobile
expanding their South Carolina coverage or is this some kind of license saver I'm picking up?
This is on a Cingular Blue SIM on a Nokia 6200, if that matters.

Re: T-Mobile in Columbia, SC It disappeared again before I could do anything else with it. Oh well.

Re: T-Mobile in Columbia, SC I would guess it is a license saver, at least for now.

Re: T-Mobile in Columbia, SC My guess would be the same, Matt. Isn't it unusual though for license saver coverage to show up on a network search? License save coverage is usually cell barred from what I understand so you can't even see the network in a search.

Re: T-Mobile in Columbia, SC Yes, it is unusual to see these towers available. Not unheard of though, I recall some down in Richmond back in 2001 or so.

That signal in Columbia could have gotten carried from eastern Aiken County...it's only about 30 miles from the eastern edge of Aiken County to downtown Columbia. At that distance it's certainly possible for a phone to see a signal if atmospheric conditions are right, but the phone couldn't register on it because of the 35-km timing limit.
