Sometimes, if one of my contacts calls me I am not seeing their name only the number. The contacts are on the sim and the phone so I am a bit confused, could it be a fluke or is there something wrong with the sim? Thanks |

I tested it by putting my name and number in my contacts once with *82 and once with just the number, I sent myself a test message and the number only came through with my name but the *82 only came in with the number. This is just a guess and also I am going to assume a Sony Ericcson trait, both my Nokia and Moto never did that. It recognized the person attributed to that number no matter how it was in the phone.... did I make sense? If that is the case than I guess those I text to I will have to put there number in without the *82 and just edit the number before I call them. Maybe that is also why SE gives you the option to edit number before you call. So is this a deal breaker for an otherwise great phone? maybe, maybe not.

Joe, why do you need the *82? Just curious.

Images: 1 | So what do you think of my theory, does it make sense? Although it is weird because now if someone calls me even if I have a *82 in front of their number the phone recognizes it and I see the name and number but not the text messages. |

Images: 4 | I would say you're probably right about having the *82 in front of the number, I can see how it would work on the phone but the matching system for SMS isn't up to par for how you're doing your numbers.

Images: 167 | Interesting, I wouldn't want to block my number. I want them to have the option of not answering the phone if they don't want to talk to me instead of answering the phone and then saying "oh it's you ?" or worst yet, "sorry gotta go, real busy".... Actually I don't answer any calls that come with the number blocked either. Joe, What I don't understand is why this is an intermittent problem. Any ideas?

At least I know what it is and it really is minor and would be silly to return the phone for that reason. The phone so far is a great performer with very good RF.

The other strange quirk the phone has is when you store your contact info on the phone and save it to you sim or as SE calls it smartchip. When you go into options and view the smartchip contacts the name is there with a back slash signifying what the number is I.E. Joe/Mfor mobile, just was not sure what that was up until now, must be another SE trait |

But it would have saved me plenty of time and questions researching all this when it would have been easier to also include it in the manual.

That bothered me less than the fact I have caller ID block on my phone and I have to remove the *82 before the number so I know who is sending me a text. Again it is not a big deal just a little annoying, and SE calls it the smartchip which also can be a bit confusing if you are used to every phone manufacturer calling it a sim card. Although I will give SE credit on the layout where you can have either the phone or sim being your default, so when you open your address book you see each name once and not twice.
