I am trying to setup email on my T-Mobile T68i. I have set it up on www.t-mobile.com (under t-zones settings). And on that site it shows my email from my POP account. Now how do I get to see the emails on my phone? I called T-Mobile support and they told me they don't support setting up email on the handset itself and setting it up on the site should be sufficient - it should just show up on the handset. I can't see how this is possible unless you put in email options for incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) server etc.... So I tried to put in the settings on the handset in two different configs: 1. - Incoming - my POP account server - outgoing - myemail.t-mobile.com - usual username and password Result is that it cannot locate server.....? Possibly my POP server (ATTBI) does not allow connections from outside the ATTBI IP range (ie connecting not via ATTBI cable connection). AND - Incoming - myemail.t-mobile.com - Outgoing - myemail.t-mobile.com - userid=xxxx.xxxx@attbi.com - pasword=xxxxxxxx Result was it said "wrong mailbox or password" I tried userid=xxxx.xxxxx Same result I tried userid=646XXXXXX:xxxx.xxxx@attbi.com (as per T-Mobile site) but the handset does not allow that many characters to be entered into the "Mailbox" under Email Options. So I am at a loss. Has anyone successfully set this up? Can anyone help me? I realize that I can see my email via wap.voicestream.com but I don't want to browse that way to see my email. I want to use the phone's native email functionality to see and send email - and T-Mobile alleges they support this.......... |

If the My T-Mobile web interface can see your e-mail on your attbi.com account, it means it is talking to the attbi pop3 server just fine. You'll need to confirm your phone settings, sounds like the incoming server is misspelled. Log into the My T-Mobile web site where you set up the mailbox and can view it above. Edit the entry for your attbi account and click on the Advanced tab. That should show you what T-Mobile is actually using for a pop3 server. (note: I don't have your phone and use the wap.myvoicestream.com method for browsing the inbox via t-mobile's site, rather than trying to go direct as you are... so I'm just guessing) ...jmt |
