as a t-mobile customer in the US, how can i send SMS messages to friends overseas?

does it cost any different?

what is the format i should use in the phone address?

if this is not a univeral thing (i.e. every provider overseas has diff rules on who can send receive messaages), how can i find out if my friends provider will accept and/or receive from me... and can i find this information iut just by having their mobile number (is there some search engine i can use and input their number and it tells me what the provider is, etc)

thanx in advance

I was just in Oz from late Dec through the second week of Jan.

New Years in Sydney - awesome....oh and Bondi too....my girl conned me into an opal from the Rocks.
I also went to Dunk Island to dive at the GBR.
Oh and Cairns too.

I loved Sydney, I stayed at Le Meriden. Coming from a moderately populated city in the US to Australia's most populated city, it was like a ghost town compared to American cities. That is a good thing b/c I like to avoid crowds. Next time I have to get down to Melbourne and Brisbane too. And I missed out on the outback too. Anyway, can't wait to get back, great country, very beautiful, nice people.

Oh but I do have two questions: what is with putting egg on hamburgers down there? Everywhere I went, whether it was a fast food joint or a regular restaurant, there was this Aussie burger on the menu that was a cheeseburger with egg on it. I didn't go for it. Second, Hungry Jacks. Are you kidding me? How is this place not being sued by Burger King? If the blatant theft of the logo isn't enough, they even have something called a whopper! There has to be some sort of affiliation there....
