Default T68i Bluetooth with Microsoft Bluetooth Transciever

Okay,

So yesterday I picked up one of the new Microsoft Intelli Mouse Explorer Optical for Bluetooth's. Mouse works and feels great but my main reason was the fact that it includes a bluetooth transciever. I have yet to however figure out how to link up with my phone using it. So far I have concluded that using the Wireless Links control panel to detect the phone will not detect it even when discoverable. However the phone itself will detect the computer, but when I try to pair and enter my phone lock code it says pairing failed. I know its talking to the transciever because the blue light does flash when doing this.

I realize this is new hardware, but has anyone had any success, have any advice and or utilities I could try? I have tried just about eveything I can think of at the moment, infact an FYI for people less familiar with the MS hardware, the box has an image of the mouse, keyboard (both BT) and a T68m, so im assuming someone somewhere in MS has gotten this to work. My question is HOW?! Let me know or try your self and post any info... I may try an upgrade to R5D if all else fails but I will definantly be buying 2 logs incase my BT dies and illl downgrade.

Thanks!

Why do you want to link your cell phone with a mouse? What do you think it will do for you?

No no, I want to use the Bluetooth transciever that is included with the Mouse to connect my phone to my PC, since its a regular bluetooth transciever.

Okay so heres the deal...

After trying everything under the sun, even creating an account on my XP machine with the same name and password as my phone thinking maybe its some weird authentication issue, still nothing. The phone tries, and the second it says it fails you can see the bluetooth link light on the PC blink which tells me its atleast sending data and trying...

Someone that has tried or wants to try with me.. HELP!

When you install your BT device did it install new COM port for you or perhaps you have (mybe not installed yet) some kind of BT Manager?

It should be some way to configure your BT virtual devices (like COM port, LAN, MODEM, LPT Port, etc) security properties. I have rwo different BT devices and they both have some kind of BT manager.

Try to look in control pannel if there is some new icon there for your device or perhaps in the Start menu under all programs there is a new group related to BT.

if not check the CD that came with BT device if there is such a program or drivers.

You have to set the [airing code on the computer first and then type it in your phone when asked. If you didn't set it yet I guess there is no password yet but pairing is probably not alowed on your computer for security reasons. Pairing shoud be initiated from the phone. Phone will ask your PC to pair and will be asked for password. At this stage your PC could ask to set the password but I hear it does not. That just mean you have to set your security settings manually. Maybe there is a low security option you need to pick while pairing. Maybe there is an option to alow other computers/devices to connect to your computer. Or maybe you BT device does not come with any of this drivers/functionality and can't be used for it. This is unlikely but possible.

Anyway as may see I don't have enough information to help you but maybe this will point you to right direction.

Let me know if you find anything. I'm thinking of getting new mouse ;-)

Good luck

The microsoft software doesn't support the COM profile (only DUN) so you won't be able to use it with SE Software (mobile phone monitor, and xtndconnect)..

Are you able to discover your phone? make sure it's in discoverable mode then go to your PC's

Control Panel / Wireless Link (Applet)

OMEGA, didn't you flash your phone using the Sony Ericsson client? If so, your phone's bluetooth is broke - you need to get it fix or replace it and you should be able to at least Pair it with the MS software and use it for DIAL UP NETWORKING..

If you want full functionality buy a Bluetooth Dongle that has the WIDCOM stack.

Omega, have you had any luck with hooking up the Transceiver to the Phone? If not I may be able to help...

Funks, I installed a Belkin BT PCMCIA card on my laptop so I can use my phone as a modem, but it keeps asking for a serial number for the WIDCOMM stack..??? Where do i find this??

Omega, maybe you are typing in the wrong code at pairing time. I don't know if the MS bluetooth unit is the same as a wireless headset, but I tried several different ones and they all did not use 0000 as the password and would come up with pairing failed, unless the right password was used. Remember the password has to do with the password for the bluetooth device you are pairing to, not the phones password. Try 0000 or 1234 or 9999, those have all been passwords that i had to use in my quest for a wireless headset that worked for me.

Hope this helps.
