Hi, This is my first post... I've browsed around on various forums throughout the web but haven't found any help. When talking on the Sanyo VI2300, the backlight doesn't turn off. It dims, but it won't turn off like what the Samsung A500 and other phones do. Most phones are on all the way, then it dims, then finally it's fully dark. I've set the number of seconds in the display menu and even when set it none, all it is is just dim. Now when you are browsing along the menu on the VI2300, it will be bright when you press it, then after X number of seconds it'll dim, then after some time it'll be fully dark. It will only do that when you are talking if you press that little rubber button in the top right with a paper clip or use the ear piece or speaker phone. I found that this greatly reduces the talk time. Anyone know how to make it turn off when you are talking besides speaker or using an ear piece? Thanks... jkpatrick |

It won't ever turn off completely while in a call. This is a "feature" of Sanyo phones I guess. Nothing but unnecessary battery drain in my opinion. The strange thing is that if you have a Sanyo candybar (non-flip) phone, such as the 4930, the display will go off completely while in a call. Seems odd they wouldn't do the same for their flip phones.

Ah I see, yeah that sucks, it would seem logical that you would turn it off to save the battery. Seems like the talk times would be a lot higher if that was the case...ah well, hopefully there will be some firmware update or something...
