Short answer: Most phones @ 1.04 level cannot do the over the air upgrade.... Longer answer(my experience),,,,,, To answer your question and others that may come up! My experience with the 'upgrade'..... Before I started.. - I had NO maintenance plan - Phone was @ 1.004SP level - OTA update would not work I went to the SPRINT(corporate) store and found out - Updates were no longer 'free' - In-store service is on a 'tiered' plan for those not on a maintenance plan $15/$30/$50 - Software up would be $15(plus tax) - If I 'took' the update, I could also sign-in up for a maintenance plan for $3/month after that, that covered every thing on the phone in the future except physical abuse, water damage, loss, etc. - If I 'took' the update. and signed up for the maintenance plan, it would cover future problems IN-STORE. - Without a 'maintenance plan', problems are now serviced by manufacturer with an average turnaround of 2 WEEKS! I paid the $15 and took the plan....... Got the phone back, and found up they had 'upgraded' me to 1.005SP!! (All that upgrade is, as I understand it is the unlock of OTA, and the new SPRINT LOGO!) Used the OTA upgrade, which NOW works, and upgraded myself to 1.007SP! Does anyone have the LIST of the features in 1.007SP? I have some details, I have noticed: - Better layout of details in Call History - Better/easier changing of 'options' |

Thanks for the info. This was very informative. It looks like I will be headed to the corporate store for the update. I did speak to technical support & the rep couldn't understand why the update wouldn't work. They told me to go to the store, so I will dispute the 15.00 fee due to the phone NOT allowing OTA updates. Hopefully, they will review the account notes & agree not to charge me...if they do, I guess I will be back on the phone to customer service.
