I heard the Sanyo 5300 supports dead ringers. Dead ringers are kinda like wave format. Similar to the Coo Coo ringtone on the SCP-5000 or the dog barking on the SCP-5150. If the 5300 does support it, how do you upload it and get it to work on the phone? Does anyone know if the SnapMedia will work with dead ringers??

I have looked at SnapMedia and it appears to be tailored around midis. You can make your own Dead Ringers and upload them to the 5300 over the air using the focus tool on www.sprintusers.com. I have done this myself and will include some information: First, you have to have wav format files to start. These need to be sampled at 8khz and 16bit in order to be converted. Go to ftp.qualcomm.com/purevoice/windows and get the PVconvert.exe. This will convert your 8khz 16bit wav files to qcp files for upload. I have found that you really want to place a shoft pause at the end of your wav files for use on the 5300, otherwise you'll end up with some wacked out looping and your sounds will be annoying. Use the wav editor of your liking. I've seen some people say they use the wave editor in Nero. I like GoldWave. It's all up to you when it comes to editing the wav file. Once you have the qcp file, you can listen to it in purvoice if you'd like, that can be found in the same directory as the converter. If you like what you hear, upload it using http://www.sprintusers.com/focus Enjoy your custom ringers. The focus tool will also allow you to send midi files directly so if you like midis it's there. PNG and JPGs are also supported by the focus tool. Best part is that no data cable is required. Post if you have any problems. |

the 5300 sure does. i have both made my own using pretty much the abovementioned way. i recorded wav files at 8khz 16 bit mono via CoolEdit200 right from my turntables into my pc. also used mp3 and wav files on my pc. then converted them with the qcp converter and sent them to my phone with pcspix.com also there are other tools to send your files to your phone with. also sites like matrixm.com have deadringers for free and to pay for. my favourite so far is mr . T "pity foo" from full metal jacket 'what is your malfunction numbnuts' from goodfellas joe pescis 'how am i funny' rant |
