Default sanyo 5300: developers, developers?

hi all,

not sure if anyone here knows... but, i am interested in developing apps for the next phone i get, which is probably gonna the be sanyo 5300. i mean, with the 'vision' connection and a real ip address, there are so many possibilities. i am guessing that the phone has some sort of java toolkit and stuff. does anyone know more about developing for said phone? so far, googling around has been unsuccessful.

i know sony ericsson (and i think nokia) in particular make a fuss about giving users free dev tools. i say this is the way to go. this is what made palm so popular: the applications! i mean, with the dev tools, i'd like to, say, write a game you can play across the 3g network. net games! ____ wars! doom! all these things!

alright.sorry for the rant, hehe... so yeah, anyone know?

cheers,
=d=

First of all I have no idea how much you are into programming but assuming that you are fairly into it. First of all you need to know Java programming. Then download the JSDK 1.4.1 from the sun's website. Then download the latest J2ME thats the Java micro edition. Now you are all set to go. Using the java micro edition programming framework, you can make many programs similar to Java Applets, in this case they are called Java Midlets. Their whole functionality is based on two soft buttons and the cursor buttons. You can make games or some networking app. I have made some of them and use them. For example I use my own POP3 client, specific to my own needs . Once you make a Midlet you can test it on a mobile simulator that comes with the J2ME. After successful testing you can sign it and put in the form of .JAR and make a descriptor (.JAD) and put it on a website and download the app to your phone. There you go.
