So I got the 4900 yesterday, and the USB connection kit from Sprint. I've installed the software, and now I am running into a few problems. 1) Originally, the software would not recognize it when the phone was attached. A reboot cured this. 2) Then, when I clicked 'GO' I got a cryptic message to the tune of: 'This application requires user input, but you cannot input anything' I am assuming this meant it required a password from me. 3) I rebooted again. This time, when I clicked 'GO', I got the RX/TX screen on the phone and all looked well. Then a box popped up prompting me for a password - I had no idea what password it wanted. 4) I went to the Sprint page and set up my VISION password. Followed the directions, etc, and tried the web on my phone - it worked. So everything should be OK now right? No. 5) Reboot again. Reconnected the phone. Now, a strange problem. The PCS software can run the diagnostic on the phone, BUT I can no longer get the RX/TX screen - the PCS software simply hangs at 'connecting'... I have not been able to figure out what is wrong at this point. Time elapsed: 3 hours and counting... please help, thanks |

turns out you should download the new connection software from the sprint site, that is what the lead tech over there told me and it fixed my problems.

Ok, gonna try that. That would be hilarious - the free software works and the one we paid $40 for does not. Guess the kit is going back to the store and Sanyo is selling another cable direct.

Ok, it worked. FYI I was using Windows XP Home and version 1.01.008 did NOT work with it. This is the version in the package. The downloaded version, 1.00.040 works FINE with XP Home. Isn't that weird that the EARLIER versions works, but the later version DOES NOT? |
