I just recently got a Sanyo 8100 with Sprint PCS Vision. The phone works great and I'm really happy with it. I also have the FutureDial USB cable and software on my computer. They connect fine on my windows 98 machine. Really not many problems except that sometimes the other side won't answer. My real problem is this: Sometimes 10 mins, sometimes 4, sometimes 30, sometimes right away, nothing will transfer in or out. I stay connected fine. I don't get disconnected, but my phone stops transferring information. I find that odd as I still have 4 bars of perfect reception on my phone. What really bugs me is that after that happens, no matter how many times I log on or off, I can't get data to move - ie: browse websites, get email, IM - without restarting my machine. And even then, it won't shut down all the way. On top of that, I do still have my normal phone modem until this coming friday, so when my Sanyo starts acting up, I try to connect with my modem, which works, but that too won't transfer info until reboot. I'm really frustrated and confused because when my connection is working fine, it's killer, but when it doesn't, i freak out because after this friday it's all I'll have. Can somebody PLEASE help me? Thanks, Joel |

Welcome to the club. I have full size computer in my 18 wheeler and use my 8100 to connect. Sometimes it is flawless, I was on all day the other day with no interuption... and other times it 'loses it's mind'. Usually when it happens I just tell it to disconnect, which can take a few minutes, and reconnect to continue. Sometimes rebooting the phone helps or rebooting the computer (or both). It is frustrating, if I wasn't mobile, I would get DSL, but for roaming the 48 states it's a whole new world for me. I also connect WiFi at Flying J truckstops and used to search for free hotspots, but since I got the 8100 I don't even bother. Steve B |
