Ok, I've got the USB cable for my Sanyo 8100 and I'm trying to set it up to work with the Futuredial software. For some reason my computer, using Win2k, doesn't want to install the usb drivers for my phone. I first tried setting up the phone with the usb drivers on the sanyo web page. When I first pluged my phone into the USB cable it said it found a new USB device and was installing. When I tried to point it to the Sanyo drivers, it kept trying to use the usb.inf file located in C:\Winnt\Inf. I first tried using that driver but it came up with an error. Next I tried forcing it to use the sanyo drivers by using the Have A Disk option instead of the search for a driver option. This time it allowed me to use the Sanyo drivers but when I went to device manager the phone driver had a ? in front of it and when I tried using SnapSync it couldn't find the phone and kept asking for a Com port (I tried all 16). I finally was able to find the 8100 drivers offered by Futuredial. I reinstalled the driver and again the search feature pointed me to usb.inf so I had to use the Have A Disk option. I also updated SnapSync with the newest update for the 8100. Unfortunitly I still get the same error from my PC. When I go to the device manager and look at the properties for the FutureDial USB Composite Device it says "This device cannot start". My computer is recongnizing the device because every time I plug it in the Unplug or Eject Hardware Device box appears in my task bar. From there on though it doesn't want to work. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

No promises, but I've run across this before with Win2k and USB. First disconnect your phone from USB. Then re-boot Win2k. Then from device manager, remove the driver. Re-boot Win2k. Check in device manager to see if the driver is really gone. Repeat the delete/reboot process. NOW, and only now, install the USB drivers. Then plug in the USB device. Win2k seems to have a memory for bad USB drivers. Good luck. |

Where did you get the drivers for the 8100? I'm using XP and can't find drivers for it. I had no problems using my previous phone (A500) as a modem. Sanyo's "Techie's Corner" (or whatever it's called) says that they haven't released an XP driver for the 8100 but futuredial claims to have one but I can't download it. Could someone point me to the files for the 8100 and XP or, better yet, E-mail them to me? I'd be forever in your debt! Thanks ! Last edited by JFB; 08-26-2006 at 9:50 AM. Reason: removed email |

I also have the 8100 and i have had much trouble trying to get my phone to connect to the computer. I got the charging chord but all it does is charge and has yet to be recognized by my CPU. Does anyone have the 8100 usb driver from futerdial? I guess there is one that is specifically for the 8100 and windows XP that you have to install manually but i cannot find it at all. thanks Micah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com Last edited by bobolito; 08-29-2006 at 12:05 PM. |

hey MdotHolla, mind emailing me the xp sanyo 8100 driver as well? I just got a cable with the sprint drivers... apparently they are all jacked up for the 8100. I'll have to see if I want to get the sync software... sounds like it might be useful for backups etc. xxxxxxxxxxxxx@relentless.org TIA! Chris Last edited by bobolito; 08-29-2006 at 12:05 PM. |

Turns out that the most important driver is copyright Qualcomm and provided to the manufacturers who only modify the name of the phone. Using that driver, you can connect with 'dialer'. No extra software required unless you want to do ringtones or sync or some-such. |

Here's a link with the drivers for the Sanyo 8100 - It will install the device as a modem, the phone number you want to use is #777 no user name or password. Look in the forum if you need more inforation on how to set everything up - It'll be quicker than E-mailing me for help. - Chetchez Click here for the SANYO 8100 USB DRIVERS |
