right now i own a 4900...after sprint fried my original 4900 i got a free replacement...still a great phone.... i heard that the low earpiece volume issue was fixed on the 5300`s and have always considered buying one. even before my 4900 but they low volume issue turned me away my main question is how long does the battery typically last during the average day and i heard someone say that the phone comes with 2 batteries...what is the difference between these 2 batteries, is one of them an extended or something, and if so how long of talk time does it get, im also wondering since the screen is differnet how my downloaded games that i have on my 4900 will look on the 5300 and what are some of the Pros and Cons of the 5300, is it pretty much the same as a 4900 just with a different form factor and the camera and what not. excuse my typing but its really late...have not been to bed yet. thanks for any help in advance. |

The two batteries one is an extended and the other is a normal....the talk time is quoted at 2.7 hours plus four days of standby in digital...I have used this phone for about a month and found the battery life to be adequate..of course the more you play with the camera the shorter the life will be.

I love mine. I've never used the extended battery because it makes the phone fatter than I like. I can't say I talk on it a whole lot, but the battery lasts several days with some intermittant web and camera usage. I don't consider it an inconvenience to plug it in at night, which is what I usually do. I had the software upgraded on mine, and now the earpiece is too loud at the highest volume, but it will always have that "sweet spot" issue where you need to have the phone at a certain place on your ear, or else the volume will really drop off. I believe the screen is somewhat taller than the 4900's, and the quality of it is easily the best I've ever seen, even better than the 4900's from what I've heard. To be honest, I can't think of a single con for the 5300 except maybe the price. Originally I was a little disappointed with the earpiece volume and the lack of a car kit, but those have both been fixed. If you want to spend the money, I'd go for it.

I LOVE MY 5300!!! If you have the money to buy it, do it! you said you don't wanna buy it and not like it 1. best reception I've seen on a sprint phone in awhile 2. awesome design 3. extended battery is included, I use it, I actually find the phone a bit too thin feeling with the normal one. The life even with the extended won't touch the 4900, but it's decent. Mine drains quick, but i'm always using the camera and playing Q-Bert. 4. besides the wonderful reception, and just usebility, the phone has tons of sweet extras. I have had a good # of sprint phones, this is by far my favorite, hands down. What's not to like about it? well, besides the price. My only real beef with the phone, they could have included the desktop charger, that way you could charge both batteries at the same time. I can't believe they want 100 bucks for it from Sanyo. When I got my first Sprint phone, it was a Samsung, that was 125 bucks and came with a desktop charger! also with the desktop charger you can use the phone + charge it (good for wireless modem use) at the same time. |

I have the 5300 and am very happy with it. It does lack at least a feature or two of the 4900, however. 1. No speakerphone 2. You cannot answer the phone when closed unless you have it on auto-answer. 3. I have been told that reception is slightly better on the 4900. I generally use the phone w/ a headset (Jabra wireless for non-bluetooth phones) so the speaker "sweet-spot" issue doesn't bother me. The camera is certainly a fun little gadget, and it sure does have an awful lot of play value, but don't set your expectations too high. I never have any problem w/ the battery -- and I play with the phone quite a bit. (I don't actually talk on it all that much, however) I do plug the phone in every night. |

Alas, there is no turbo button on the Jabra wireless headset I use... And wireless is SO nice. (BTW, the headset works on my landline phone as well.) |

Be warned that the Camera amusement wears off after a while. My main feature of this phone is reception. I have never had so few dropped calls with a PCS phone it feels like new towers have been built because the signal comes in so strong.

I have never gotten a dropped call on my 5300. My girlfriend still uses a samsung 8500 from the 20th century and it drops calls DAILY!! I keep telling her to get a sanyo, or even a newer phone, but she has not yet. |
