Default sanyo 4900 vs. sanyo 5300

its amazing how the better phones always cost a lot cheaper than the more expensive ones. i think the 5300 is a complete ripoff. for a phone to be 400 dollars it should be a phone with very few flaws. i dont think the 5300 is worth it, not for 400 dollars.

Default sanyo 4900 vs. sanyo 5300

I am very pleased with my 5300, as are a lot of others that own it. I had the 4900 first and in my opinion the 5300 is better. The screen resolution, for one thing, is much better, and the fact that it has a camera is great for me. I now have a camera with me at all times, which is great for those moments when you wish you had one. Yes $400 is a lot to spend on a phone, but it's worth it to me. I like the fact that it is a flip phone. I never owned one until I got the 5300 and I like it a lot better. But hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Default sanyo 4900 vs. sanyo 5300

I had the 4900 (now the wife's) and I now have the 5300. The screen resolution is so much better then the 4900. Mine came w/ 1.035 and I have no problem w/ the earpiece volume what so ever. I also had the 5150 which I also didn't have an earpice problem. The 5300 I usually keep on either med low or med high. As far as the speed when loading apps., there is no comparison, the 5300 is much faster. I also prefer a flip to a candy bar style phone. I loved the 5150, although I wasn't impressed w/ the screen resolution (256). The 5300 has everything I personally need. Since I've owned it, my wife hasn't had to listen to me complaining about my phone anymore. That makes her very happy lol. I also have no problem w/ the signal. It's right there w/ the 4900. The 4900 might have a very slight advantage, but if the 4900 is able to place a call so is the 5300. Now the camera isn't going to replace one that runs $400 - $700, but it's nice to have the option of capturing a picture whenever you want. I also never actually lug around my digital camera whenever I go somewhere. That is why it's nice having the one in the 5300. You never know when you might want to snap one. As far as the $400 price tag, that goes in par w/ all electronics. They are always high when they first come out, then they fall. Wait a year, the 5300 will prob be $150.

Default sanyo 4900 vs. sanyo 5300

My reception with the 5300 is awesome. The same as when I had the 4900. I use to have a Kyocera phone and I couldn't get any reception bars in my house. Now I usually have all 4 bars. The earpiece volume was horrible until I got the software upgrade and now the volume is great. I no longer have to keep the earpiece volume on high. In fact, it is way too loud on high. And just like Thunderboom01 mentioned, there is no comparison to the 4900 when loading apps. The 5300 blows it away. I am so greatful I have the 5300 now that the price tag doesn't even bother me anymore.

Default sanyo 4900 vs. sanyo 5300

I had a long line of Startacs before the 5300.
Temporarily, I had the 4900. It was the worst cell phone two weeks of my life.
The "up" key didn't work and every time I pulled it out of my pocket or briefcase, there were characters on the screen. (Yes, I know about keylock, but it's annoying having to turn it on and off every time you want to use the phone.)
I hated not having a flip-phone. We took the defective 4900 back and I picked up the 5300.
I would have rather not had the camera, but it's a cool feature. The screen is bigger. The phone fits well into my pocket.

I will miss the speakerphone capability of the 4900. I had a nice add-on for my Startac than gave it speakerphone abilities.
I can only hope the vaporware 1.040 software becomes truth.
I do miss having a "holster" to hold it, like the Startac. I'm using a case with a built-in clip. It's a little bulky.
I've had the phone for two weeks now. The reception is no better than my Startac was.
Battery life is so-so, but I have the backlight on all the time. You can't read it AT ALL without backlight.
PCS Vision isn't worth twice as much as wireless web was, but the color screen and picture caller ID with custom ringtones are way cool.
