Hello.... from reading posts I've learned that XP is not compatible to the 5300 and Vision. All I really want is a laptop with enough memory to access the internet for day to day stuff. I guess my question is..... "If I plan to buy a used/refurbished laptop. What are the minimium requirements I will be looking for and what should I expect to spend?" Also.... Anyone know of a good place to buy such a laptop?

I have XP on my laptops and never have a problem connecting my 5300. I use the dialer software from the Sprint website.

My son is still trying everything to get his laptop to work through the data cable to the 5300. The Win 98 computer cannot find the correct drivers...he has the R/S cable & software. He has tried a lot....uninstalling then hooking up in different orders, downloading the 5300 driver from Sanyo, etc. He's at Air Force schooling after being out of touch for 7 weeks with BMT...he's so anxious to get it going...Help! |

As I mentioned in another thread, the Futuredial page on this issue http://www.futuredial.com/snapsync/d...4900_win98.htm indicates that he may have to go into Device Manager, find the USB Composite Device (wrong driver for phone), and change that device's driver to the Sanyo one. |

By the way, if one of his goals is to keep in touch with friends, there are things he can do until he gets the modem-style connection working: 1) Send and receive email on his phone 2) Download AirIM (which is compatible with AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger) and use that. Note, though, that AirIM may get confused ("hang") if he has more than 30 buddies on his buddy list. Using these on the phone is more painful than on a laptop computer, but doable. |
