Thumbs up Case for 5500

This is in regards to the earlier thread about the new Bytech/TUX cases everyone was discussing earlier in the forum.

Folks, I went to Fry's last week and found -I swear it!- the same exact case there for $19.99. I got a black one that is made of some material similar to neoprene and vinyl. The fabric used is of the "breathable" variety (the tiny little holes) and the stitching is solid. I compared this with the photos I've seen on that earlier thread and found no difference between the cases.

This case is a "Cellio Cellular Phone-Case" and the web info is www.celliowireless.com and email is cnc@gotocnc.net . The company's name, apparrently, is Cellio Wireless. However, the web page never seems to pull up.

This case literally fits my 5500 like a glove and it looks and feels awesome! The clear plastic covers snugly the entire screen and all the keypad (except for the nav and hot keys) as well as the exterior LCD.

The ONLY thing I don't like about it is the clip button on the back. It's metal and looks more like a little mushroom. It DOES stay on the belt clip wonderfully and doesn't look like it'll pop out. The belt clip is well-designed in terms of mechanism. HOWEVER....it just hangs there, rotating around. Sometimes upside down, sometimes to the side, etc. Kinda drives me batty. The one thing I liked about my old case (Sprint PCS sold me a $29.99 case that was made for the 5400 which they said is also for the 5500, as they weren't going to get any cases for the latter) is that it had the standard rotating click-stop button and clip. At least that way the phone would stay in whatever position you desired. This case doesn't allow that, but it DOES keep the phone on your belt! The clip itself is of standard size, which is okay. Unfortunately, being a Paramedic, I wear a 2" uniform belt that's a bit too wide for the clip. Too bad I haven't seen a clip of this type that would accomodate.

I'll snap some photos of the case on my phone in a bit and put 'em up in a bit. But, I swear it to you, this is the same case everyone was talking about earlier. If you're anywhere near a Fry's Electronics, go check it out.

Default Re: Case for 5500

good to hear, only difference is that the Bytech case cost only about $8 and cents, and in my case, about $2 thanks to ANTHRO...
would like to see some pictures of your case when you get a chance...

Red face Re: Case for 5500

Well, you figure the standard cost of that case from Eastman at $8.88 plus shipping at $6.95 comes out to $15.83, that's only a $4-$5 difference, give or take a few nickels. I suppose one could justify the difference as a fee for local convenience.
