Samsung A670: How do I make it totally silent?

I got this phone about a month ago, and have really liked it, except for the fact that I haven't figured out how to make it totally silent. The only sound I have left is when it alerts me that I got a new voicemail. It uses a ring I've never selected, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it go away. I like having my phone on me, but I hate the ringing of cell phones in public places, so I like to have it totally silent, so this is really inconvenient for me, as the only thing I can do is have it off. If someone knows where this option is hidden (or am I just being stupid?) please let me know.

Hold the # button for about 2 seconds, and that should put it into silent mode. You should feel it vibrate when it goes into silent mode.

Hold the # button again for 2 seconds, and it'll take it back out of silent mode.

I've found the interface on this fella very intuitive, but that certainly isn't the first thing that would come to my mind to do.

Actualy, on almost every flip phone released in the last couple of years holding down either * or # switched yuo to silent mode.
