-I am awaiting the delivery of my Samsung i600 Smartphone and I wanted to see if anyone here has or has had one and if they know how exactly the whole "recordable ringer" capability works. How many personal tones can you record and keep on the phone? Also, how much time is alotted to record and do you just hold the phone up to (for example) a computer speaker that is playing the sample you want to set as your ringer and it is recorded into the handset? Any help is appreciated, I'm just really curious about this cool feature. Thanks Again for any help. -David

-Well, I can see that not many people were sure of how to do this from lack of responses but I saw that there were 17 viewers of the thread, people who may have had the same question as I had so here's what I found, this is how you make your own ringers... *Here is how you add custom rings that you make at home to your Samsung i600 Smartphone: 1.On your desktop, in your start menu go to all programs and click on entertainment and then on your Sound Recorder program. 2.When the application opens begin to record whatever you want as a ring tone.ie music, voices, whatever.(you must have a microphone).Save the recording to your computer. Just a tip, be sure to convert the recorded clip to stereo (CD Quality) by going to the “properties” of the clip, it will sound great on the phone’s speaker, mono is terrible. 3.With your phone in the cradle, (ActivSynch enabled) go to MY COMPUTER and open the folder that shows your mobile device (May have the name: My Smartphone, My Mobile, etc.) 4.Then double click on the “ISPM” folder, in it double click on the “Application Data” folder. If there is no folder named “Sounds” visible, make one by right clicking and selecting new folder, rename it as “Sounds”. If there is already an existing “Sounds” folder then you can immediately drag the saved recording into it. Once this is completed, a window will appear immediately and it will show the personal recording that you made being copied to your SmartPhone’s SD card. Go to settings…sounds…ring tones in your phone, you will find the personal recording has been successfully inserted there as a useable ring tone, select it and your ready to go. PS. Depending on what version of Windows you have on your SmartPhone (Windows 2002 or 2003, there may be a slight variation in step 3. But once you get to the “Application Data” folder on your smartphone everything is the same. Hope that helps anyone who was totally stuck before like me! |
