Hi - I have tried to follow all the specific advice regarding downloading ringtones to my a 670 from eringers.com. I was able to download the files to my computer, but I can't get them uploaded into a pix message. It keeps saying it's not a valid format, even though they are in midi format. also, when I try to access the pixplace webpage specified to create the message (www.vzwpix.com/mlib/index.jsp) I keep getting a page that says Error - page is not currently available. Can anybody offer any ideas or tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I have to rename the files or change the extensions to upload them? Thank you in advance!!

Over the weekend, vzwpix.com upgraded and changed their website, as a result, the capacity for uploading MIDIs to it has been omitted. I've emailed them to let them know about the problem. I suggest you do the same. The more people complain about the problem, maybe they'll fix it faster?!

I called them this morning, and they told me it would not be fixed until February or March!! My husband, however, found an alternate method of receiving the .midi files. Once you save them to your computer from eringers, go to http://www.funformobile.com/pages/ri...adRingtone.php add your phone number and carrier and hit browse to add your file and it immediately sends you the message (I believe it comes through as a pix msg. Then, I just followed the rest of the instructions for saving the tone. Thanks for your help again!! |

Yeah....I started doing the same thing...I download the ringers from eringers.com to my laptop and then upload them through funformobile.com. The only bummer of this is that vzwpix.com allowed you to upload several tones at a time, whereas funformobile is limiting... Oh well...it's better than nothing! |

Hey everyone...probably a basic question, but can't really locate a straight answer regarding this. By using eringer and funformobile etc. am I being charged by Verizon to get these and use them ? I know the Get It Now thing thru them does, but not sure about any other method. Thanks |

If you have the package of 20 pix/$2.99/mo then you are only being charged for airtime (so if you use your phone on N/W then you aren't being charged at all!)... If you don't have this package, then you are charged 25 cents per message + airtime.

Thanks Jodi, I do not subscribe to the package so I'm being charged...darn ! No way around that is there ? I assume the same is true for using funformobile for sending pix too ? Thanks again. P.S. Any particular good threads, or site regarding all the cool things with the a670 ? and here too |

Same for funformobile... For cool things, join the Yahoo Groups for the a670...if you go to groups and search for a670, you'll find it...there's lots of archive threads with menu codes, etc. Good luck!

Jodi: I have been lurking here for a while, impressed with your helpfulness. I, too, have been frustrated by not being able to easily upload my own files (midis and/or mp3s) as ringtones for my new Samsung a670. However, following another member's suggestion, I did use FunForMobile to browse my files, and I successfully sent myself some (sound only) pix messages in both formats. But--forgive my ignorance Jodi--now that I have these messages saved, how do I move them out of Messages/Saved Box, to Sounds/Ringer Type/Calls/My Melody, so that I might be able to actually make good use of them now? Thanks. My address is hope@vt.edu; please also reply via e-mail, if you can. Hope |

Hi Hope! Here's what you do.... Go you to saved message and view the message (left soft key). Then as you are hearing the tone play back to you, hit the left soft key again and go down to "Save message"...before hitting "OK" scroll left to right until you see "Save Sound." Now hit OK Now when you go into your Settings or individual contacts, you should be able to see the different menus MY MELODIES and PRELOADED. If you go into MY MELODIES, you should see your ringtone. If you do, you can delete the message that the ringtone was sent in on... Good luck! |

Hi Hope!! Thanks for the compliments *blush* On another note.... On my Yahoo Groups site for the a670, someone there is stating that the vzwpix.com route is still working for midis...personally, I think he's high, but he's stating he's able to do it...I haven't been able to send midi's through vzwpix.com for at least a month already. Anyone on this group be able to confirm/deny? |

Jodi, I am but a humble peon. But...that is how I sent the most recent midis (last night) to myself. The only complaint I have (sorry, Jodi) is that the sound quality, through the ringer tone's speaker, is rather poor, compared to the quality through the earpiece, when listening to the same sound clip in the saved pixmessage. Is there a way around this? Hope |

You sent the tones through vzwpix.com and not funformobile.com? I sometimes have the same problem...for me it's a hit or miss. Some ringtones are very clear, others are poor. I've heard there is a special code to change ringer volumes, but I don't play around with the special menus as I did with an older phone and ruined it... I've downloaded "Sex and the City," "90210," "Coca-Cola," and "We like to party" without any problems. On the other hand, "Twilight Zone" is awful!

Yes; the one midi that I sent to myself last night was sent by me, directly via vzwpix.com. But, even if I had used FunforMobile again, that's the way the midis would have traveled--FunforMobile sends the sound file that it downloads, after browsing your PC for you (and then having you select a particular sound file), via vzwpix.com, if you are a Verizon customer. So, it's all the same thing. Getting back to my distorted sounding ring tone...Do you think that if I try re-sending the same midi, I might have better luck with the sound quality next time? Hope |

Hi everyone! I hope someone may be able to help me out with my problem. I just got the a670 yesterday and want to put my own ringtones on it. I have gone to Fun For Mobile site and tried to send myself a test tone and even one of my own. When I open it though, it says that the file is corrupted. Has anyone else ever had that problem when the first ringer was sent to phone? Any way it can be fixed? Thanks in advance! |
