Default Samsung s105 questions

I am getting the samsung s105 for t-mobile for christmas. I want to download ringtones onto my phone. I made a wap site at : http://wap41.com/jdoerr1231/cardfile1.wml. Can I download those ringtones off this site? And one more thing, I have 1MB of t-zones to use. Can I switch it from MB to minutes so I can get unlimited use on the weekends? thanks

You will only be able to download ringtones to your phone if the server is configured with the correct MIME types for MMFs (MMF = native s105 ringtone extension). You can always try it to see if it'll work, but most sites aren't configured for MMFs by default. Make sure the ringtone is less than 15kb.

Yes, you CAN switch from GPRS (MB usage) to CSD (minute usage) BUT there is no easy way to do it. You have to "trick" your phone into switching which is usually done by attempting to connect to GPRS in a place where there is a weak signal so that it switches to CSD. There is no option on the S105 to force a CSD connection. (Some say, that NOT signing up for T-Zones lets your surf using CSD all the time).

A word of warning; CSD will download a lot slower than GPRS (I'm guessing 9.6kilobits versus about 40 to 60 kilobits)

Same answer. If the server has the correct MIME types for JAD and JAR (midlet extensions) then you'll be able to download midlets from there. Right now, you won't be able to download midlets using CSD. You can download midlets using GPRS though.

I seem to be having a problem with only being able to connect via CSD. I have tried at different times of day and I can only connect using CSD. I want to be able to connect via GPRS so I can download some midlets. Anyone have any other suggestions that might work?

Are you trying to connect to an FTP server using the WAP browser? In order to connect to a FTP server, you need a FTP client. A standalone HTTP client won't work. IE and Netscape are HTTP clients that also include built-in FTP clients, but I don't know if the S105 WAP browser (Nokia Browser 3.0) has has a built-in FTP client or not.

Even if it did, you might not be able do anything with it. The phone might not know what to do if you download a ringtone via FTP (no mime type config).
