bring my piece of garbage N400 back to sprint, and get the new hitachi. they just got them in, really nice phone, crisp TFT display. only thing that im not so sure about is the candy-bar style.....im more accustomed to a flip style...as its all ive ever had (exception of my old nokias back in the day) has a lot of features about it....might be worth the additional 100 bucks....unless i can complain it up a bit, and get it for a direct swap |

Why not opt for the A500?

The hitcahi looks quite big... but it has some nice features. I personally prefer flip phones. As said before, look at the A500 or the LG 5350... both nice phones |

I'd wait for the sanyo 5300 supposed to come out before december, and although it's gonna be a 200 dollar difference for you, sanyo has already proven itself to work incredibly well off the pcs network with the 4900 as a good example. It'll also have a built in camera and external color lcd display. The hitachi will have great reception and a speaker phone so it is a good switch, but the sanyo looks a little more formidable!

well, with my current experience with samsung phones, i see absolutely NO reason to give the a500 a chance. if a company releases a product that is NO WHERE NEAR ready to be on the market, nothing i can see would lead me to believe the a500 wouldnt be a piece of crap too. i think the P300's countless list of features will outweigh the candy bar style. as for holding out for the 5300....i have a digital camera, and a sony clié... i need a phone, not another PDA w/ a crummy digital camera built in (whats the specs on those things anyway...are they even 1 megapixel?) now if i see they are really nice, i could just sell my pda, camera, and phone and get one after they come out i dont know if the 5300 will have speakerphone, but i know the P300 does......and i need speakerphone, its useful when calling sprint and sitting on hold for 45 minutes. i dunno, we'll see how much ruckus i can cause @ the sprint store. might look into the LG phone too. |

its not big, i was holding it yesterday.. its barely longer than my old nokia, but thinner, also light. very light. i favour flip phones as well, however im willing to make the move, the P300 is very impressive. as for the LG phone..i kinda like it, kinda dont. my previous experience w/ LG was very good, my TP1100 STILL works after i (quite literally) beat the piss out of it. i literally threw it down the street, smashed it on the curb, kicked it, smashed it on trees, etc. etc. still works, but the battery wont stay on... heh. only thing im not too sure about w/ the 5350 is the shape...i like smooth flowing lines...i dont like how angular the 5350 is..but i might be able to look past that..to prevent myself from getting the P300. (i like the phone, i dont like the price tag....especially after buying what will be my 4th phone in about 10 months.) another thing im weary about, apparently the internet connection kit works with macos10...TRUE plug 'n' play - no drivers needed. (which is pretty much how every usb device is w/ macos 10...but we're not going to get into how much better, more functional, and logical apple computers are......hehehe) but i dont know if they have that for the P300, or if its a more universal connector...then again, i doubt it'd take too long for them to come out w/ a cable for the P300. we'll see...and i'll post the results if i make it to the mall today Quote:

well, i got the P300. extremely happy with it at this point. features are...cool, some are a bit "gimicky" (ie, the flashing light thing...i dont carry my phone around looking at the back of it anticipating the phone to ring.....but the lights are pretty. excellent (read: EXCELLENT) voice quality. has a built in memo recorder which i didnt know about until i brought it home. EXCELLENT display quality, also has a whole meg of storage space (i think my headache [n400] has 512k or less) the joystick made me a bit nervous and first, like it was a bit loose, but it seems it was made that way. built in email client is very very functional, easy to use (tho i havent actually gotten/sent any email yet, waiting to have internet ability on the phone...) size is definitely not an issue, its VERY light, small, nice. im adjusting to the style of it rather quickly. i have noticed a couple peaves already tho...one being the "back" button is below the joystick, rather than to the right of it (opposite the "go" button would seem a tad more logical to me) another thing, im not sure if this has T9 text input on it? i guess i have to fiddle around with it a bit more first to find out, but at first glance, doesnt look like it. anywho, not to turn this into a big phone review, basically im happy w/ NOT HAVING A SAMSUNG!!! |
