Default extendable antennas vs stub antennas

Does anyone know or have an opinion on extendable antennas vs stub antennas? It seems that Verizon only offers phones with extendable ones. I've heard that they are good so you don't get brain tumors (ha ha), but reception-wise, I'm not so sure I'm sold on them. They're fine when extended and you're talking but when its in your pocket and the antenna is down, doesn't that mean you'll have more missed calls?

I like having an extendable antenna it means the difference between 1 bar of signal or two in a remote area. I think they make a big differnce between droping calls and not droping them. On sprint it is a different story my A500 has an extendable antenna but it doesn't seem to do anything. I think it all depends on the network but different phones work better because they have either a stub or an extendable antenna. I hate those nokia phones that don't have an antenna they always drop calls and people can never hear you and crap.

Ebay has nice metal extendable antennas you can buy that screw onto the phone where your old antenna is, as long as you can unscrew it.

Found this site via eBay:

http://www.daydeal.com/

They seem to enjoy a high user rating, and carry all sorts of custom antennas and whatnot. Never tried 'em personally, though.
