HELP BUYING T720 or A-310 in 1 HOUR!!!!!!

Hey guys, I've been reading in depth on the Moto 720 and the Samsung A-310 for the last 2 days. I need to buy a phone in 1 hour and I'm leaving soon. GOing to Verizon to buy one of the 2. I like the Moto but I hear there are MADDDD problems. Every single time I've bought a Moto phone I've spent alot on it and gotten very little (startac, tac lite, digital startac). I want to believe I wont have any problems but I doubt it! I'm thinking to take the 720 (299-100) and try it out for 14 days and swap it if i dont like. Maybe if down the line I dont like I can "loose" it and just have them give me a A310 *$199* or maybe down the line there will be revised 720. I'm posting this in Moto and Samsung forum so you guys can help me ASAP.

What I like about MOTO:

-color screen, customizable ring tones, wallpapers (gif), screensavers in color, size, battery life seems better than sam from my research, FM radio, games,

What I like about Samsung:

-blue leds, reputation of Samsung,

Doubts about Moto:

- bad rep, lots of problems, earpiece volume

Doubts about Sammy:

-bad antenna quality *and I live int he boonies*

Hi Adam,

While the T720 has a number of glitches - we all know - or should know - when you buy a phone that is soooo new to the market (color - get it now) there are going to be some glitches... Goes with the territory! Check your phone for the software version (t720) make sure you at least get the 19c version. I know they are working on a 19d at this time. I had the samsung 310a and returned it within two days. Heated up really quickly and the voice quality was choppy and I live in a great area with great reception. So while the moto has glitches, I still think its a better phone! Just my advice!

Even with all the problems I have experienced with my t720 - I am waiting for the updated software and will exchange my faulty v. 17 version...

ok its the 720 unless i hear otherwise

I just upgraded my two contracts & phones with Verizon last week (one for my wife and one for me). I could not decide between the Mot 720 and Sam 310 as well. So I went with one of each to try them out since I have 15 days. Actually my sales person recommended doing this. That way my wife and I could trade off for a few days to see what phone we each liked and which ones work the the best for the areas we travel. Then if needed, we could return one.

After only about 3 days with each phone, it looks like we may end up with two Samsung 310's and the Mot 720 going back, but we will give it a few more days.


Pro's of the Samsung 310 over the Motorola 720:
Reception is better in the areas we travel daily
Speaker quality better
Speaker volume is louder making it easier to hear
Voice quality on the receiving end was better
We find the display easier to read
Ringer is louder
Battery life better (but not much)

Con's of the Samsung 310 over the Motorola 720
Ringer choices (no normal ringer)

This is all based on how we use the phones daily, for you it maybe different. The idea of downloading games, ringers, having a color screen or special screensavers was not a factor since we wanted these to use as phones not a toy to play with.

Also with some of the shortfalls we found with the 720 we have, we have a friend who also has a 720 and she let us tried making a couple call using hers to check voice and speaker quality (and volume), reception and ringer volume in case it was just our phone. But there was no noticable difference between our 720 and hers. She tried our Samsung 310 for a couple calls and said she noticed a improvement over her Motorola 720 for speaker quality and volume. She also thought the the ringer volume was louder too, but said we needed to pick a different ringer. We didn't tell her that it didn't have any normal ringers to pick from <LOL>.

finally went with the 720, playing with it now, so far so good!!!

I bought the T720 last Saturday and brought it back on Monday. The biggest issue for me was the screen. It looks great for the 20-seconds that the backlight stays on and if you are inside. But if you are outside the screen is illegible and when you are inside after the timeout it is illegible.
Plus they seem to push the purchase of software and other functions too much.
Now I have the A310 and love the screen and other things (except the ringtones: I don't need to have the latest pop hit on my phone but I don't want to be embarressed in my office either by the various A310 "melodies")
