I just got my A500, and it is great, only thing is when I have the flip open and if the backlight set to 15 sec, it stays on for 15 sec, then it turns off, (or can barely see anything on screen). It you look at it at that time, it looks like phone is off. I donâ??t want to keep the back light on as long as I have flip open it will drain the battery. Has this happen to anyone else, hope some one can help me, or I might have to call sprint and be on hold for long time. Thanks |

It turns off the backlighting to lower battery consumption.

Trust me you'd want it that way. It shuts off to save battery life. If you need to turn it back on, just press the Blue button in the middle of the directional pad (Dont hold it, just tap it.)

Thats just how the phone is. It saves battery. Its really not that bad, just do like I said: tap the blue button in the middle of the Directional pad and the screen will come back on.

Hi There; Not sure what you guys are talking about. I have an A500. My choices are 8 Sec, 15 Sec, 30 Sec, or 'Flip Open'. When I choose 'filp open', it stays on for several minutes, yes, it does turn off after a long while. Had it this way when the phone was new, but now I can find it (the blue button - center of the paddle) in the dark just by feel, so have brought it down to 0 Sec. Once you are familiar with most sites you visit often, I think that 30 seconds is plenty time to read all the stuff that can possibly fit in that screen. Have you not the option for 'flip open'? |

Oops.. Hit the wrong button, before previewing it. I meant to say '30 Seconds' NOT '0'. Also, if you are one that don't want to keep the backlight of the TFT screen on while the flip is open (major power drainer), but still can't see the buttons, then the next choice is to keep the 'Keypad' light on (again the same options and same long duration before it turns off). Hope this helps... |

i have my screen and display set to 30 seconds. after the 30 second the lighting goes away but i can still see the screen. oh wait, i think it does that if the screen is active like web surfing. but if i'm talking it goes black after a while, maybe after the 30 seconds.
