Anyone have any comparisons/opinions between these two? If I stay with sprint I will be getting one of these two phones (anything will be better than this crappy A640). My main concern is signal strength, as my A460 couldn't hold a signal to save its life. Plus the usual downloading ringers, etc - which should be just as easy with either, right? Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts on which I should go with and why. Thanks

Both phones have their good and bad. Personally, I would choose the A620 over the 8100. A620 has a better camera, has a better earpiece (audio quality) and also is more user friendly IMO than the 8100. However, the 8100 is a bug free, reliable phone. The A620 is new and unproven and the earpiece does emit a high pitched beep every few seconds or so on any volume level lower than 6. The earpiece speaker on the 8100 doesn't do this, but it sounds terrible and really distorts the voice of whomever you are talking to. The A620 also browses Vision faster than the 8100 IMO, if you wqill be adding Vision to your account.

I agree with Matt's comparisons of the two phones. Also the outer LCD with no backlight of the A620 is much easier to read than the 8100 in daylight. And the A620 is thinner than the 8100. I use my old V60i Body Glove Prizm Pouch for my A620, while my 8100 would not fit. The browser IMO is easier to read too. I have been very luck with my A620 so far, as I have not encountered any of the bugs (knock on wood).

Samsung said they have released a new firmware that corrects the "beep" sound in the phone. They said they gave it to Sprint. Just hope Sprint now distributes this to the stores fast!

think about this. Camera has zoom and a flash. You also have double the memory which was not mentioned above. The Sanyo only has 500k while the samsung has 1000k. I love the Samsung

You might want to look at the Sanyo 5300 I have owned 4 phones in 4 days and wound up with the 5300. The Samsung VGA 1000 is the same phone as the Samsung A-600 but it is less money because it doesn't have the rotating flip. I think the Samsung VGA 1000 is less likely to break. I got the Samsung VGA 1000 but returned it with out activating it. I tried a friends Samsung VGA 1000 and it didn't work well inside my house. I bought the Sanyo 8100 because I couldn't find the Sanyo 5300. Great reception inside my house but photos weren't as good as I expected. The one thing the 8100 has in it's favor is that you can upload to your computer with a USB cable. I don't think ank other phone will do it. I got lucky and tracked down a 5300. I has great reception inside my house. thre picture settings, high, med, and low with two zooms.and flash. Also the large screen on the 5300 is a plus over the 8100 it is important to me because I have bad eyesight. Also the 5300 comes with a regular battery and a extended battery. No need for a car charger with 2 batteries. I am pretty sure the 5300 has the biggest screen.

I had both the Sanyo 8100 and Samsung VGA1000 before I cancelled and went with AT&T. The Sanyo 8100 reception wise is the better of the two. IMO, reception is the most important factor when choosing a cell phone. The VGA1000 has a better camera and user interface(menu). Build quality would go to the Sanyo with the snap feature that it has. Basically put, if the camera isn't very vital, then I would go with the Sanyo phone.
