If you go in your phone, menu 0, #4 which is roaming, and then #1 set mode it give you three choices automatic, analog, and sprint pcs so if you want all digital sprint pcs, check on that and then ok... But remember if leave sprint pcs coverage area you wont have coverage....I keep mine on automatic to be safe...Hope this helps.....

Yeah supposedly there's a way to force 'CDMA only' by using the advanced debug menu. If you want to know the specific steps involved I could research it for you. It's a very complicated process and the setting does not save when you turn the power off. | |

To enter your A500 into test mode, press the keypad as follows: 4 7 * 8 6 9 # 1 2 3 5 Test Mode Command 005 - set mode (PCS, CDMA, AMPS, none) - WARNING: due to a software bug, using this option can render your phone inoperable on the PCS system. Selecting CDMA will force the A500 into digital mode, and will be able to roam on to 1900 MHz, and 800 MHz systems. |

hi, My name it´s Germán. i´m in Argentina. I have a Samsung A460 that it´s from Sprint, the thing is that i want to upgrade the software, i want to live the phone so it can be compatible with other Service Provider, not just SPRINT. thanx, i hope you cloud help me best regards. PS: i have the data link cable. |

Larry, what do you think of the Samsung A500? I'm thinking about upgrading to A500, or should I wait for A600? If I were to force digital roam, do I have to pay for roaming still?

The A500 is actually a very good phone I think. It just needed new software that wasn't so buggy and we finally have it now. If you do end up getting one you will have to have a Sprint store update the software for you because none of the new ones being sold will have the new version (WD29) for a while. You will have to pay roaming charges if you force digital roam unless you're on the F&C America plan which allows you to roam off network for one set rate.
