You better jump on board before the offer disappears. Someone on Howard's mentioned that it disappear for his region. Good luck. I have it now and it works great.

I just spoke with a Verizon wireless rep. and Confirmed this. You can enable the express network. It will only use your minutes. however you have to be on americas choice plan. this is again Free of charge ... you can use your phone as a modem connected to your laptop, and use the Express network free of charge .. meaning free dialup internet ... using your phone to a special Verizon dialup service ... at no charge. I confirmed this with the rep 3 times... she even asked the supervisor... This is 100% working. |

damartian, thanks for posting this. I read the post on howard's and had no trouble getting Express Network for free. The CS guy was really surprised at this promo. He had to call some EN techs to verify it. Well worth it though considering it's usually $80/mo. |

your welcome. and it depends on who you talk to. i am not on america's choice plan, and they gave it to me. like i posted earlier, it really depends on who you talk to. i'm on a plan called "the star plan". this plan is longer available. and they still applied it to my account. they even applied it to my other phone that is a local digital plan. if you don't get what you want from one cs, try, try another until you do.

Just called the Verizon Mobile Office Support and they added the Free EN for me. I am on an old plan from June 02 and they didn't seem to have a problem adding it to my account. I'll test it tonite to see if it works |

Once this gets added to your account, what do you need to use it? The PC interface cable? What about IRdA (not even sure my new a530 has an IRdA port).

" no, this phone does not have irda, and i'm not sure if there is any connector that would make it irda. i use the usb cable from radio shack (19.95 + tax) you can get it tonite. or go to like ebay, or somewhere on the internet and get it cheaper and wait for it to arive. i did not get the sofware with it (together 49.95 + tax) i downloaded it for free from a yahoo group. plus other software for mobile phonebook link and free ringtones and pictures. | |

Angela, You can get cables and the software at Radio Shack from FutureDial. It is cheaper than the kit from Verizon and it does work. |

Question for all: does anyone know how many people were paying for Express Network prior to this offer? The sales rep who signed me up yesterday said the "customer response to the pay service had been luke-warm to say the least." I find it slightly amusing that only 2 weeks ago I wrote an email to a nameless VZW customer service person asking when there would be an Express Network package that cost less than $35 per month. Specifically, why not offer a $10 plan that gave you 20-30 minutes, for "emergency" use if your high-speed connection went down, for example. My arguement was very simple: The average cell phone bill in the US is $50-$60. Therefore, expecting customers to pay at LEAST an additional $35 to have dial-up speed Internet access seemed aggressive to say the least, particularly when competing GPRS networks (admittedly far more limited in scope) were dirt cheap in comparison. The response was along the lines of: "VZW has a team of consultants far smarter than you who know our customers and our markets who have designed these 20 pricing plans. Please go back in your box and don't quibble with the #1 Wireless company in America. We know whats best for you. Please enjoy our worry-free guarantee". And now they're giving it away for free. Huh. I now have it and love it. Thank you VZW for listening to your customers! |
