Are you now getting digital signals in areas where you previously received analog? Do you consider the map accurate? How about some feedback.

Sorry if I sound stupid... I'm new! I had only marginal analong service at my house in northern California about a week ago and now I have 3 bars of digital. Steve |

I noticed that I get excellent digital reception and signal when I place/receive calls w/ my boyfriend on the airport parking lot located just next to the Bay. Not bad for a cell phone that I forced-set to digital mode only to save battery life and increase call clarity.

Questions: 1) What phone are you using 2) How do you set it to forced digital mode 3) Does it remain in forced digital mode when the phone is turned off and back on again |

Answers: 1. Samsung SCH-A310 w/ VL17 firmware upgrade 2. MENU; press 0; press *; press 0 six times for password; choose CDMA only (screen returns to standby mode); repeat steps 1-4; press 9; choose CDMA-3G; press OK; phone restarts and goes on standby mode again 3. Your forced digital-only mode should remain the same. |

Thank you for the quick response. Another question: What is the procedure for returning the phone back to trimode? |

To set it back to trimode, choose [Normal] instead of [CDMA-3G]. Phone will restart... and you're good to go....

And you're welcomed to ask me any other questions regarding the A310 in the future.

Fortunatly........I get a good digital signal at my house and all surrounding areas, so I always leave my phone in tri-mode. My method for good battery life was setting my Slot cycle index to "3" and buying an extended battery. It will last me a solid 3-4 days easily before I have to charge it again..........and that includes normal everyday use. |

Cool... I also have an extended battery. My phone rarely goes into analog, and I personally just prefer it to be set to digital-only. With about 30-45 minutes worth of daily calls and minimizing my usage of unnecessary features, I can get around 7-8 days out of the battery life.

DreamSiren007, with all that flying, you must be a pilot. Have you used your a310 in the Los Angeles area and if so, did you leave your phone in digital or trimode? Los angeles is known for numerous pockets of analog. Thanx |

Wish I was a pilot... hehehe... but with school and stuff, I don't have that much flexibility. I am training to be a flight attendant, though. Reception and signal strength are good in LAX (Los Angeles) area, especially in digital-only mode. Verizon is good overall; however, I'm leaning toward switching to Sprint by year's end as their Free and Clear plan, along with the unlimited mobile2mobile package, seems more affordable and better for me. I usually go over the 1,000 mobile2mobile talk time when talking to my boyfriend... so Sprint's deal and recent national coverage improvement are important areas to consider.

You should consider getting the FamilyShare plan.
