I've got a clip that I keep it in clipped to the cup holder of my car in the middle of my console. I have come to the conclusion that it sets off the x-band of my Whistler 1160 or something radar detector quite frequently. At first I thought it was my fuzzbuster messing up, but then I took it into a friends car. He has a Cobra radar detector and while we we're driving down the road, quite frequently his was going off too, and it just hit me that it was probably my phone. Turned it off and didn't hear another thing from the Cobra. But then later I tried it out with a Passport detector and it didn't respond. So I'm not sure of the deal completely but it does stink because I have to turn off my phone or radar detector every time I get in the car.

Do you have a friend with a Valentine One radar detector to check it on?

This can happen...the phone is transmitting radio signals after all. I have even heard of extreme reports where cell phones have activated airbags on cars. I believe it was Hondas...the problem was with the car, not the phones. I am guessing your radar detector probably isn't "smart" enough to realize the signal it is picking up on isn't from a cop or it can't filter out interference it recevies from nearby transmitters (in this case your phone) very well. The other possibility is that the a530 is not properly shielded and is causing interference with other devices. I think this would be a violation of FCC laws though.

The reason your friend's and your's radar detectors are set off are due to a lack of technology that is now present. All escort (makers of the passport), beltronics and valentine detectors will not go off due to each owns patented false alert prevention system. It's not the phone, however, which is good news.
