Default Phones from Korea

Obvisously everyone knows that the latest phones are available in Korea/Asia and Europe way before they are available here. Phones that are sold in Korea that use 011 service work in the U.S on Verizon network. Check out http://kr.shopping.yahoo.com/electro.../mobile_phones and click on 011 on the left of the webpage.

If anyone is interested, I am trying to organize a group buying on these phones. Only thing is that all functions will be in Korean. Phones will cost between $350 - $600. Please post if interested.

The Korean monetary values are in WON. Go to any conversion calculator on the web and convert the 400K WON to USD. That'll roughly give you about $334. Those phones are all within the price range that yoonny specified. Goodluck getting the phone to work here though.

EDIT: If by chance you weren't Korean, the phone's menu systems are all in Korean and the system layout is a bit different what we are used to here, so its pretty difficult to know what's going on even with the icons they show. Once you select a main menu option, everything else is in Korean text with no pictures.

Ah, Damn..I just ordered V205 using T-Mobile..
It will be here in 1 or 2 days...

Btw, After you purchased 011 phones, do you need to reprogram the phone with US software, or just take it to verizon store and have it activate??
I would love to get one of those anycall phone with 60 poly..

Later~!

I thought UK had the latest phones available. And I do not know how to get these phones to UK, sorry.

I was just trying to see if there were enough demands to bring these phones over to US. If not many people are interested then I recommend that those that are interested go to any "Korea Town" Verizon dealers and ask around. I know a place in NJ that sells the phones and connect the phone to Verizon.

If any of you are really interested please post and I will see what I can do to help you.

Yoonny! You're just the person I've been looking for. I'm looking to get a phone from Korea--you sure that they'll work in the U.S.? Virtually every "expert" I've asked about it has said it can't be done. And what makes the 011 phones different from the rest over there? You can email me at seabass@e-garfield.com. Also, what exactly is the process for getting it activated through Verizon service? Thanks!

SK Telecom uses 800 MHz CDMA, just like Verizon (in most places) in the US.

LG and KTF use a different frequency (1,700 MHz) which is only used in S Korea.

Verizon and SK Telecom phones can be used on each others' networks, whereas LG and KTF phones can not roam.

Sorry,

Technically, SK Telecom phones should roam in the US on Verizon and in Japan on KDDI. All these systems are 800 MHz CDMA.

However, you may need the programming menu for the Korean phone.

Hey, I'm interested in getting a Korean phone and activate it under Verizon Wireless. Could you let me know a dealer in Koreatown whom can set one up for me? Thanks.
