    Default Samsung T809

I just got this phone last week. I'm very pleased with it, but I have a few things I would like to get answered. Is there any users forum I can go to to talk with other T809 owners?

This is the best place on WA, but since the phone is new, not many people have it yet!

if someone is having problems with settin .mp3s as a ringtone then this could be solved by converting the .mp3 into .amr file...the new .amr file will be in ur VOICE LIST folder of SOUND which could be set as a ringtone....this also shrinks the file size which is actually gud!!!

HERE IS THE LINK FROM ONE OF THE FORUM THAT I READ!!

    http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...0&page=2&pp=15

I just read in another thread, to set YOUR mp3's as ringtones on the T809, all you have to do is rename the .mp3 file to .3gp, move it to your phone or card, and select the file as the ringtone.
no converting needed or anything... to be clear, make your mp3 ringtone on your pc... then just before you move it to your phone, simply rename the file to .3gp (myringer.3gp for example). even though its still a mp3 file... then select that .3gp filename as a ringtone... and it will work as a ringtone

    http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...0&page=2&pp=15

I TRIED THIS BUT IT DIDNT WORK ....I WILL STILL GO WITH THE FIRST THREAD WHICH IS THE .AMR WAY !!!!!

It does work, you have to make sure the file extension for mp3 is displayed in windows so that when you edit it, you actually change the files association.

I've noticed that Samsung is developing cellular phone with wi-fi, I'm wonder how that works with cellular phones since they're already wireless and it takes a carrier for that to work, now how does wi-fi fit into this. i have a private network set up at my home and i'm wondering how i would incorporate the two???? Can someone help me to understand this?

It is rumored that T-Mobileicon will offer this combined WiFi/GSM service in 2006. Your phone can attach to your home network, and use your home internet connection for calls. The technology is called UMA:

I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but for the actual file extension to change, you have to go into folder options and make sure you have windows display the file extension. So you'd see song1.mp3 instead of song1 when you view the file. Once you change the extension, it should give you a warning telling you that if you rename the extension, it may not work properly.

If you have a mac, I don't know how you'd alter the file extension

Whtz Up! I've tried both the (.amr) & (.3gp) methods for my t809 ringtones, and the .amr method works but the sound is terrible, and the .3gp method isn't going to well. Every time i try to change the mp3 to 3gp it goes right back to mp3 when its transfering. Is there anybody that is willing to give more specific instructions. THANK YOU

your problably doing what i was doing wrong this works go open your folder with your mp3 songs when your window is open ( go to tools ->folder options->View -> then uncheck the hide extensions for known file types ) after you do that the mp3 will show the extension ex:songname.mp3 instead of just songname you then rightclick rename and just erase .mp3 and put .3gp when you do that a pop up box will apear and say (if you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable. are you sure you want to change it ) click yes and tadda is done then if not already on your phone copy paste it to your phone using your phone as usb mass storage don't use it as a modem as it will take to long to transfer. you dont need to use the samsung studio pc.. uhh unless you don't have windows if you have a mac im not sure how to do that ..

Oh in case you do have mac or even if you don't just a tip go to Walmarticon.com then look for any song you like or cd when the cd pops up it lets you listen to most songs instead of clicking on the listen right click and go to save target as when your saving it you have to name it just name it the song.3gp and save it and then it will work even if you have mac or windows also it plays for 30 sec perfect seeing as thats the longest the ringer rings and its only 236kb and is still mp3 quality and format so then your able to have a whole lot more ringtones on your phone only copy the whole mp3 songs that you want to listen to on your phone no need to have the whole song for just a ringtone seeing as it don't play out anyway

The phone comes with about 75 mb of internal memory and it records unlimited or as long as you can which is alot ex: i recorded for about 12 min in normal QVGA (320x240) and it only took up 8 MB so you do the math and yes you can then move them to your memory card and then to your computer and watch or send them through the net just make sure its on normal when you record and not picture message

the external memory does not help you record longer because it is recorded directly to your phone but don't worry you could problably record a video for over 40 min to an hour on the phone then move it to your memory card so you your phone memory is free and i doubt youll ever need to record longer than that just buy the phone its worth every penny trust me
