Default Editing MP3 Ringtones

does anyone know the min and max parameters for an MP3 ringtone, for example; can it be larger then 2mb or does it have to be mono? is 44,100 to much or should it be 22,000? is 128kbps to much or should it be 96kbps or lower?

It probably matters how big a file the phone will accept.

When making ringtones I usually trim them to 30 seconds, and process them as 96k mono, but that's just to save space on the device. Some phones only have a 3-5 megs of storage space to hold extra ringtones, and if not scaled down you will only get 1 or 2 on the device.

i know that all phones are a little different but there must be some sort of standardization. that's all i'm looking for, the general standard.

There is no standard. You have to just make the MP3 small enough for your phone. As you were told in a previous message make it as small as possible by making it mono and making the fidelity at a minimum. Something likely less than 30 seconds at a low rate is what you're looking at.

You should make them as small as possible. Providers like AT&T impose limits on the size, which I think is down to like 300kb now? Some providers do, some don't. You want them as small as possible, as mentioned above.
