Default v3xx problem...changes settings when plugged in

Hello,
I have had my v3xx since last July (9 months ago) and it was awesome for about 6 months or so, but then it started changing my ring style (which affected ring tone, messaging tone, and if it vibrated) when plugged in. I don't know precisely when this started since I only plug it in at night and let it charge over night, so I wasn't aware until I realized I missed a call because I didn't hear it (since it changed my ringtone.) I have never heard of this happening before, and I didn't know if it was just something this phone does and there's a way to turn it off, or if I'm having bad luck.

I actually talked to the salesman at the store where I bought it and he said he'd never heard of that before and I should talk to AT&T about it since my phone was/is still under warranty. I did that and they said that was definitely not normal and that a refurb phone would be on the way. Super.

So I got the "new" phone today and the first thing I did after I put it together was to plug it in (since, btw, the phone would suck down the battery each day from full charge in the morning to maybe 1 bar at night if I used it for 20-30 minutes that day). And as soon as I plugged it in, it beeped and changed my ring style. I unplugged it immediately and it changed it back to what I had set it to (vibe then ring.) I don't know if this "new" phone will suck down the battery life like the other one did, so I'll give it a few days, but I'm getting a pretty bad taste for this phone.

Has anyone else anywhere heard of this type of thing (I didn't find anything similar in a search) or should I send this one back and try again?
I hope I made sense and didn't just ramble. If I can be more clear just ask.

Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure I will be all that much help to you, unfortunately. I own a V3xx, (Got mine the week it came out), and I have never had this problem. It's quite strange...

I know my phone will automatically go to the Loud setting when I plug it in to charge, but it goes back to my original setting when I unplug it...

I will think some more on this one... in the mean time maybe one of the Moto Experts here can help you.

Most Most Motorolas will switch to "Loud" when plugged in. What I recommend is copy the vibe & ring profile settings to loud, if that is the settings you want to use at night. You can also change the ring style after you plug in the phone, and it will stay unless the phone is unplugged (or you have a power failure) I think this can also be modified. I think its under the "car settings" menu. Its been so long since I've played with that, I'm not sure though.

Thank you both for your input! You have eased my mind about the changing when plugged in part, now I just have to see if this phone will suck down the battery like the other one did. If not, then I'm good to go!
Oh, one more question, when I changed all the pieces over to the refurb phone, I had a few ringtones that I downloaded and paid for from at&t, and when I tried to hear them on the new phone, it gave me an error that they could only be recognized on the original device. That sucks since I already paid for them once. Is there any way to make them work on the new phone? I haven't sent the old one back yet, just in case.

If you purchased the ringtones from AT&T's website you should be able to call customer service and have them give you a credit to download those ringtones again.
