Razr Problem: No sound... PLEASE HELP?

Okay, here's the deal: There is almost NO SOUND on my Razr. And I'm not talking Volume. It's on the actual PHONE. For example, when I take a picture, there is no sound- no shutter noise- even when I'm on loud. Also, my ringtones only play when I either get a call ect. OR when I go into "Change ring tone to..". also, my videos have no noise either, when they did before. This was a sudden change, and I've been trying to fix it for a few days- nothing works. PLEASE help me, It's VERY frustrating.

Have you done any modding to the phone? It sounds like your gain table got messed up, but that only happens when you screw up modding the phone.

Hm, I didn't do anything with it, it was just, one day, "nope, no sound. how annoying." It is very frustrating, maybe I should take it in...

Ok, lets take a look at what you got here. Exactly what model V3 do you have, what carrier is it on, and how old is it?

It's on carrier ATT but it's a Cingular phone, and it is about two or one year(s) old. (I think.)

Sounds like something got reset. Did you try the old stand by of removing the battery for a few minutes?

Not for a few minuets, but I HAVE cold-started it before. What does that do? (so sorry for the slow replies; I can't be on a lot. Thank you so much for helping! )

Sounds like you have what I call a "Classic" model V3. Sounds like something in your gain table got corrupted, but the fix is not something I recommend to beginners. If you mess up you could risk permanently frying your phone. One of two things needs to be done. I'd try replacing the gain table file with one copied from a known good working phone. If that didn't work I'd reflash the phone's operating system with a monster pack.

How critical is this? Is this just an annoyance, or are you considering the phone unusable at this point?

Oh, it's useable, but it IS really annoying. I think I'll take it in; But hopefully they wont chase me off and throw me a new phone, like that often happens.

I've got the same problem. I'm not a 'beginner' with computers, but have not messed around with cell phones. Mine is a "Classic V3" also. Where can I get a gain table or monster pack for a reflash? Also, can I do these things with my standard data cable?

www.motomodders.net used to have the best tutorials and a downloads section with all the software you need, but the site has been down for a while, and at this point I fear it may never return. What you want is a program called P2K Commander. It will allow you to do file transfers with the phone's operating system. Be very careful with it, and read everything you can about the files you wish to copy. There are no safety measures built in. It will let you delete critical system files, and it won't ask you if you're sure before it does it.

What you want to do (if you can find the software) is copy a file called Gain_Table.bin from a known good operating phone of the exact same model. This means if you have a classic model V3, don't copy a gain table from a V3xx. If you need a monster pack for the phone I have no idea where to get one now. I haven't been actively modding Motorola phones for a couple of years now.

I would just like to throw in a caution when modifying or flashing a phone make sure to follow instructions to the T. You can seriously brick (ruin) your phone if you don't do this correctly.
