Default razr v3i does not find my service provider automatically

theres some problem with my razr because when i turn my phone off and turn it back on i have to manually go to network and to find my service provider, it does not find it automatically even though i have it setup as automatic. Even when it hits a dead spot it would not find connection when you walk out of the spot. does anyone kno how to fix this problem
