I am using AT&T and just bought the V3xx. I took the first one back because I didn't think that it was focusing at all. I would send the pictures to myself in email to look at on the pc and they were all blurry. I got a second one and now have a micro sd card so can look at the pics quickly. They still seem blurry and also I have not changed the settings on the camera set up but the phone seems to be changing the size of the pics? The pictures that I view on the pc, from the same photo session range from big to really little. Should it be doing that? Shouldn't they all be the same size until I change a setting? If I use the zoom the picture becomes even smaller. Thank you.

You need to have a very steady hand with this phones camera, I have found that out numerous times, usually when I take the picture I view it first then if it's blurry I will delete it & retake it. Are you setup with best quality 1.3 MB on the picutres? When you zoom the picture does come over smaller. You have to remember you are using a phone with a small 1.3 MB camera vs a regular camera & sometimes they won't be as clear on the PC. They are excellent when sending to another phone, I have been told the pictures are really good. Sometimes it's easier to rest your arm on something when taking a picture or using both hands. What photo program are you using on the computer to view the pictures?

Thank you so much for replying. I do have a fairly steady hand. I am just viewing the pics with windows XP and a USB cable that I already had, I haven't tried editing them with any photo program. None of them have been good enough to bother with. I don't understand what you meant about zoomed pictures coming over smaller? I have the phone/camera set for 1.3 megs and the zoomed photos are pratically thumbnails on the pc. Shouldn't they all be the same size when viewed, only zoomed in? Maybe I am expecting too much? But I do want to know if it is operating correctly before my 30 days is up. The only reference I had was my niece sending me beautiful, sharp photos of herself from her camera phone (not sure which one it is.). Thank you again.

I have Jasc Paint shop 8 that came with my computer to view & edit photos, so maybe that makes a difference. I would suggest going to Cnet.com & downloading a free photo editing software to see if that helps with these zoomed in photos.

I did a test. I took 4 pictures of the same area, zooming in on each one. I uploaded them to the pc and viewed them in photoshop and also a couple other programs I have. There are 4 size settings on the camera phone. As I zoomed in the picture went down a size without me changing the setting. As follows: 1.3 (1024x1280) 1x zoom 480x320 2x zoom 240x320 4x zoom 128x160 8x zoom It should not matter how it is uploaded to the pc. The same thing is happening when I email the pics to myself (which costs me 25cents a piece). Thank you again for your help.

I have gone back to the AT&T store and the manager didn't know the answer. I also called motorola and the person I spoke with did not know the answer. Please someone with this phone do the full test I did with the original setting at 1.3. I am running out of time to return it if there is something wrong. My niece has a samsung and she just did the test and the pics were all the same size, just zoomed. I was really hoping that her phone did the same as mine.

I put my phone on 4X and it's still showing at 1.3 MP in the settings, I then took a picture at 2 X zoom & emailed it to my computer & it looks the normal size in the My Pictures folder & when I open it the picture looks smaller then a regular picture but not a lot, I can zoom it in and it gets blurry the more I zoom it in. I am not sure if you are getting the same response I am here with it. Being I don't mess with pictures alot with the software I am not sure I am replicating your problem the same, I am very limited on what I can do with the photo software.

Could you try this please. Put the setting to 1.3 and take a 8x zoom photo and send it to yourself at the pc. Is the pic still 1.3 (dimension 1024x1280) or is it fairly small. Look at the properties of the photo on the pc, what are they now? Are the dimensions 128x160? I am not referring to the editing or zooming in a photo program on the pc. Just the way/size the camera changes the size of the pic when it is sent to the pc.

I did what you asked and Yes the picture on my computer is 128X160 from a 1.3MP 1024X1280 picture I took. The only thing I can think of is someone I was talking to had unbranded Moto's & they said there was a setting on what size to send the picture. I think AT&T blocked this choice out with their software and they purposely have the pictures sent at a smaller setting for MMS. I wish I had a better answer for you on this, but hope it does answer your question it's not your phone.

Thank you for doing the test for me. I feel so much better and will not return the phone. Seems silly that AT&T would allow MMS pictures to be sent the full 1.3 size and then shrink them when zoomed, so there is probably another explanation. But at least we know it is normal for this model phone. The guy at motorola and the store both said they were surprised that they had not been asked about it before.

Your welcome, glad it has relived some concerns on your end with this & sorry I didn't fully comprehend what you were talking about earlier. See you taught someone at Motorola & the store something too.
